All MVSD schools will need to make up 4 school days due to the time we missed for recently winter weather. Make up Day 1 will be this Monday 2/16. Make up day 2 will be Monday 3/2. Make up Days 3 & 4 will be May 14 & 15. The last day of school will now be May 15.

All MVSD schools will NOT be in session tomorrow Friday January 30. Refreezing conditions have prevented safe traveling conditions for buses and school employees. With maintenance on area roads and school parking lots continuing today and tomorrow, all MVSD high schools are still planning to host scheduled basketball games for Friday night. Times for basketball games and other activities may be altered. Our high schools will be pushing out updated information for Friday night's activities shortly.
All MVSD schools will be canceled Wednesday January 28 and Thursday January 29 due to hazardous road conditions. Our goal at this time is to have school Friday along with our scheduled home basketball games on all three campuses. This plan will depend on travel condition changes between now and Friday. More updates will come as we get closer to Friday. If we attend school Friday it is likely that we will utilize our bus snow routes. Updated snow route information will be communicated before we run any snow routes. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
All MVSD campuses will be closed tomorrow Monday January 26 and Tuesday January 27. We will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions throughout the week and send updates as we have them.
In anticipation of the winter weather expected in our area tomorrow, we will be releasing school at 2:00 PM. This decision is being made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. If conditions begin to deteriorate earlier than forecasted, we will adjust the release time accordingly and communicate any updates immediately.
Little Stingers practice for today has been cancelled.
MVSD was informed that a former Chartwells food-service employee assigned to the Rural Special campus was recently arrested by the Stone County Sheriff's Office. This arrest involves charges that are separate from school, and are in no way related to any activity on any MVSD campus. MVSD administration and police have been in contact with local law enforcement and continue to monitor the situation. Although the individual was not an MVSD employee, we took immediate action upon the initial arrest last month, and the individual has not and will not return to any MVSD campus. Chartwell's terminated the individual's contract as upon the initial arrest last month. The individual has not returned to school since the time of arrest and will not return in the future. Chartwells requires all employees assigned to schools to pass state-required background checks, and this individual met all such requirements at the time of hiring. MVSD's priority remains the safety and well-being of our students, and we will continue to work closely with law enforcement as needed.

All MVSD schools will start at 10 am tomorrow morning due to probable early morning hazardous road conditions. School usually starts at 7:50, so buses will be at their regular stops 2 hours and 10 minutes later than they usually are. Doors will open at 9:40 for breakfast. We apologize for the disruption to our regular routine. MVSD appreciates your cooperation and contribution to our community-wide effort to prioritize student safety.
All MVSD schools will dismiss at noon today. Winter weather has been reported in our area, and more (including freezing rain) is likely on the way. With that in mind, our intention is to make sure students are able to return home safely. The noon dismissal time will put buses at their respective stops 3hrs and 20mins early today. REMINDER: No School for K-12 students on Friday 11/7. Teachers will be participating in a professional development day on all MVSD campuses. All ballgames that are scheduled for Friday night will still take place and Pre-K will still be in session on Friday as well. Enjoy the 3-Day weekend!
Ms. Shelton's bus (bus 19 Big Flat to Mtn. View route) will be around 45 mins late today due to a mechanical issue. We will run the route, but parents on this route are encouraged to bring their children to school if possible this morning. Students that do ride this bus will not be counted tardy/absent. We apologize for the delay and inconvenience this morning.
